I have always been amazed at the quality of staircase eestairs produce however I find it extremely hard to believe that these stairs pass building control, I could be wrong but what has happened to the 100mm sphere rule or the non climbable railings as clearly some of these designs do not seem to adhere to? Did you get special permission from the building control officer or the customer?

I have checked with EeStairs about your question and comments. Please see their comment below.

“We have branches of EeStairs all over the world, Netherlands, UK, USA, Italy, France etc. Different countries have different rules for staircase design.

NL, France and Italy are far more relaxed in domestic situations and the 100mm sphere rule does not exist. Hence photos of stairs which are non-compliant in some parts of the world.

UK, USA and Australia have the 100mm (or 4″ or 5″), sphere rule for domestic and public areas. This rule does not apply in offices, where you can also have balusters and mid rails (climbable balustrade)

It all depends on where you are in the world.

EeStairs UK has fabricated non 100mm compliant stairs where the client has requested. This is usually after a waiver has been granted by building control.

Hope this answers your readers questions
